Humanizing Energy: Boeing & Sustainable Flight

Client | Boeing

Locations | Everett, Washington / Charleston, South Carolina

Produced in partnership with Boeing, this short documentary explores the urgent and inspiring effort to make flight more sustainable. From reducing emissions through advanced aviation technologies to scaling the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the film follows the people behind the push to decarbonize an industry that connects the world.

At the center are Kerry Smith, a former Navy pilot and Boeing’s Deputy Chief Pilot, and Brian Moran, the company’s Chief Sustainability Officer. Along with Dr. Tia Benson Tolle, they offer a grounded yet forward-looking view of how innovation, data, and cross-industry collaboration are redefining what’s possible in commercial flight.

This is more than a story about carbon reduction. It’s about flying with purpose — and the people who believe the future of aviation must serve both humanity and the planet.

As part of Goodfellow’s work in documentary film production for aerospace and sustainability-focused organizations, this film reflects our core belief: that powerful storytelling can bridge complex technology and human motivation. From test pilots to engineers, we captured the real people working to move aviation forward — and the emotional stakes behind every takeoff.

Every flight we did in the Navy had a purpose. Today, flying the ecoDemonstrator, every flight also has a purpose — to help improve the aviation industry by decreasing emissions. I hope my kids are going to live in a world that is just as good, if not better, than it is today.
