Produced in partnership with Genus PIC and BBC StoryWorks, this short film follows the journey to combat PRRS (porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome), one of the most devastating diseases in the pork industry, through science, innovation, and generational farming.

Told through the perspective of Chris Chinn, a 5th-generation farmer whose family faced heartbreaking losses, and Dr. Randall Prather, a researcher pioneering gene editing for disease resistance, the film traces the development of pigs genetically engineered to be immune to PRRS using CRISPR technology. Alongside Dr. Bill Christianson of Genus PIC, the story highlights the promise of genetic innovation to support animal welfare, agricultural sustainability, and food security.

As part of Goodfellow’s work in agriculture and biotechnology video production, this film demonstrates our commitment to telling complex science stories with heart — bridging farm, lab, and future.

We didn’t know if our family farm was going to survive… but knowing this science exists gives us hope.
